This report discusses the evaluation of the current efficiency of the plumbing portion of the water infrastructure at the MSOE campus. The main topic of this report concerns ways MSOE can effectively alter the current usage of water throughout the campus. The purpose of the research in this report is to determine where MSOE can save water and money by improving the campus. A combination of field studies, calculations and research was conducted to determine which fixtures should be replaced and when the University should replace them. The majority [of] the information in this report consists of a study of the campus' residence halls, laboratories, common areas, lecture buildings, and non-educational facilities. This report evaluated four plans that give the University some options relating to upgrading their buildings. The calculations in this report can save the University an estimated 299,266 dollars with an initial investment of 74,012 dollars. The savings are from reducing the annual water consumption by over 4 million gallons, which saves the University 19,646 dollars each year. These cost savings are very conservative and do not consider inflation or an increase in water costs over the years.
